All About Narrative Text

BahrelweyPost- Narrative text is text with purpose to amuse or entertain the readers with a story (actual or imaginary experiences in different ways). Narrative always deal with some problems and are followed by the solutions of the problems.

Text Orgainzation :
1. Orientation (who, where involved in the story, when and where)
2. Complication (a problem arises followed by other problem)
3. Resolution (the problems/crises is resolved, for better or for worsw. How was the problem resolved)
4. Reorientation (optional)

Languange Features
1. Use of simple past tense
walked, helped, work etc

2. Use of material process (action verbs)
walk, sleep, work etc

3. Use of mental process (nonaction verbs)
a. Saying verbs : sayy, tell, ask, answer, explain
The fairy godmother asked, "Why you are crying, Cinderella?"
b. Thingking verbs : think, understand, assume, conclude, discover, consider, doubt, believe
She thought she was clever
c. Feeling verbs : like, dislike, enjoy, love, prefer, hate, regret, fear
he enjoyed himself
d. Verbs of senses : see, watch, notice, observe, hear, listen, feel, smell, taste
She felt hungry

4. Use direct and indirect speech
The fairy godmother asked, "Why you are crying, Cinderella?" (direct speech)
The fairy godmother asked why Cinderella was crying. (indirect speech)

5. Use of noun phrase : a beautiful princess, a huge temple, a generous person
6. Use connectives : first, before, that, then, after, finally
7. Use of adverbial phrases of time and place : two days ago, once upon a time, long ago, in the palace, in the garden
